This website is an outreach outlet for the nutrition interns at the Fitness Institute of Texas (FIT). As undergraduate nutrition students at the University of Texas at Austin, we are interested in getting some hands-on experience, learning more about nutrition, and sharing knowledge about how to lead a healthy lifestyle. Since there is often conflicting, incorrect data regarding nutrition seen in the media and on the internet, our goal is to provide you with accurate information to broaden your nutrition expertise.

Supervised by Lauren McGill, FIT RD, and Sports Nutrition graduate student Alix Vargo, we are excited to work on various engaging projects as a part of the FIT team! For example, we are currently working on a virtual grocery store tour! This site and blog are public access, but only GET FIT participants have the ability to login and checkout our video library.

The Fitness Institute is run by 4 full-time staff, 2 graduate assistants, undergraduate fieldwork students and nutrition interns. Although this page is dedicated to the nutrition portion of FIT, we want to recognize the faculty and staff for all of their hard work.
